Major Hotel Sprinkler protected
Nestling between the historic bridges that join two great cities the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Hotel stands proudly overlooking the River Tyne.
This modern hotel has all the usual facilities from an international hotel group that considers its guests needs.
Such is their attention to detail that a fire sprinkler system has been installed to all parts of the building.
The sprinkler system comprises 2 wet pipe and 2 alternate alarm valve sets coupled to a water supply comprising 2 automatic fire pumps and a single full holding capacity water storage tank.
Each floor has been fitted with zone valves which allow repairs or alteration works to be carried out isolating only a minimum number of sprinkler heads thus retaining the majority of the system in a state on readiness.
Care was taken with the selection of type of sprinkler used. UK Firewatch installed a concealed type head in the main entrance and restaurant areas and to all other areas a neat white sprinkler head and matching rosette.
The design in the bedrooms did give UK Firewatch a problem but this was over come by a sound engineering solution and using a UL/FM approved long throw sidewall sprinkler head.
